But it's sinking, racing around to come up behind you again. The sun is the same in a relative way but you are older, shorter of breath and one day closer to death. *insert mellow yet blistering guitar solo*
Okay, enough Pink Floyd for the night. Another year, another birthday. It's the 20th man, gotta count them down. If everything goes according to plan, I shall be dead in another 25 years. That is if everything goes accordingly, but you know how plans are. They are usually postponed.
So, what to say? Nothing in particular actually. I just finished watching Iron Giant, and if I do say so, it is one of the best animated films ever made. It raises a lot of philosophically complicated questions, and that's pretty amazing for a family-oriented affair. It's heart-breaking without being overly sinister, and it's message is ultimately one of hope and rebirth.
What I've noticed is that no matter how outlandish a piece of art is, it can never escape describing something that isn't human. You can have orcs, elves, giant robots, ass-raping tentacles, cyborg ninjas, whatever. All you end up doing is saying something about human nature. And it raises the quesiton of what exactly makes a human human and all that that implies.
But what does a giant robot have to do with my birthday? Nothing really. Just a hearty recommendation for you guys out there.
All in all, it's been a relatively decent 20 years, and thanks to everyone who made it relatively decent: friends and family. Gotta show mad love toward y'all. Peace out.
